Better living through chemistry & a concert

The Lamictal has literally changed my life in the last 72 hours. I owe my life (and I am not kidding) to Rick and his amazing knowledge and judicious use of pyschopharmacology.

I am feeling like the person I feel I really am.  Which is a very good thing. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to all of my blogging and IRL friends who have been praying for me. I love you all for it.

Tonight, Robert, Andrew and I went to see The Raconteurs.  They are an amazing band fronted by White Stripes' singer/guitarist Jack White. The show was AMAZING! We were 15 feet away from the stage. It was so incredibly awesome! Jack White is one of favorite guitarists. I was blown away by how totally fabulous he and the whole band was. Andrew took pics and video and I will get them on my blog ASAP.

Peace,

Bitten

Sorry guys, I never said I wasn't a hopeless romantic teenager stuck in a 42 year old, because, well, I am. I just finished reading the first book in the Twilight series and you could say I am 'thirsty' for more. The fact that Stephanie Meyer (the author) loves and dedicates one of her books to Muse (my favorite band) certainly didn't hurt. Here are a couple of fangirl videos of clips from the Twilight movie with Muse songs.

Blast to the past

So Andrew just came home. It is 11:30 Saturday night. He has been gone since noon. His band, Iconoclast, has been recording, mixing and mastering a CD of their 4 best songs. I am listening to it as I sit here and Andy's voice is a mix between Ian Curtis of Joy Division and Andrew Eldritch of Sisters of Mercy, of course I would be remiss if I didn't mention that, of course, I can absolutely hear Paul Banks' (from Interpol) all over his voice and Andy's lyrical style. If I can get his songs on this blog I am gonna do it. Can I just say how happy I am that at least one of my kids has been VERY influenced by my taste in music. :-) (Because, of course, it is always *about* me!)

BANG!....Rewind 17 years ago.

I forgot how much I love Blur. This is the video for 'Bang' from Leisure, their first album, and the whole darn thing is awesome. Leisure came out in 1991 (I think) and I was 25. The lead singer, Damon Albarn (who also went on, after Blur, to form the Gorillaz and now The Good, The Bad, and The Queen) was 23 then, and I thought he was the most gorgeous guy that I had ever laid eyes on.

Roman Calvary Choirs Are Singing (viva la Coldplay)

I have heard this whole album (Viva La Vida) and it's great. But, to me, Coldplay could play washboards and milkjugs and I would still love them. The lyrics to this song are great. This is from MTV Awards. Coldplay are going to be here in Atlanta on our anniversary (Nov 11) and I sure hope going to see them is my present (hint, hint Honey!!)

Mosh pit!

Okay, some days (like this one) I just want to blast a song like this and bash my head into a wall. Hmmm, maybe I should teach Ben to slam dance. That might be a good way of getting our angst out. Oh, I forgot to wish Matthew Bellamy...the adorable singer and guitarist in this video... a belated Happy 30th Birthday (it was June 9th). Ahhh...to be 30 again!

Really creative!!!

The Raconteurs

Earlier today I got a message from Ticketmaster letting me know that there were upcoming concerts in my area going on sale today.  I clicked on the email and lo and behold what do I see but The Raconteurs coming to a tiny, very cool venue in Atlanta on October 1st!!!  I immediately bought 2 tickets.  One of the things I want to see before I die is Jack White (bottom left) play guitar live.  Jack White and Matthew Bellamy (of Muse) are my two favorite guitarists. I promised myself that I would not miss seeing either of them if they ever came to town. So, although, I would love to hear Jack White play some White Stripes tunes (which he won't) I will take what I can get. I love The Raconteurs' music too, so I am cool seeing them. The end to this story is even cooler...my Hunny wants to come!! I assumed he wasn't "into" The Raconteurs like I am, so figured he wouldn't be interested in going to their show. But I was wrong.  So, I am really excited to be going to their concert with my 2 favorite guys over 18...Robert and Andrew.

Now I have 4 months to find a sitter for Autumn and Ben. I'd better get crackin'!!

If you don't like the music, scroll down

I grabbed a music widget that I like more than the last one I tried. It's at the bottom of my blog.  If you don't like the music just scroll down and hit pause.  Oh, I found the widget at the blog: Sardonic Catholic Dad.  He is hilarious!

Happy Valentines Day

Apparently, according to the website below, Autumn's learning talent is Music.  I can definitely see that as true.  She is globally artistically inclined, in that she sings, learns songs easily, takes ballet, pottery and drawing, designs her own fashions in a notebook, and has recently started writing her own songs (which I transcribe for her).  She has plans on being in a band (Andrew is mostly to blame for this) and really wants to take guitar lessons. I can totally see Autumn on stage in NYC in musicals.  It would completely fit the personality I see in her now.  However, she is only 8 (on Feb 18) and things can change.  Though, I am sure, she will always love music.

If you love music...

You can get the widget I have at the top of my blog, in the right side bar.  All you have to do is click Deezer.  Register for free and then set up a playlist.  Once you do that, at the top you can click 'blog' and the widget code pops up to copy on your site.  WAY COOL!

Bands I love ALOT!

Okay, so I have cancelled the Near Circle I had created for Alternative Rock Fans. Instead, I will continue to post on music, because it is a huge part of my life. Following are the bands I have been listening to alot lately.
Up top is MUSE.  I am utterly addicted to them at the moment. There are the best band I have heard in ages.
Underneath in the left row:  The Shins, The White Stripes, Snow Patrol, Coldplay,  in the center middle is Interpol and in the right row The RaconteursJet, The Killers.
