This guy is frightening, and I think he makes several assumptions that just don't make sense. My husband is an immigrant, and I know from dealing with that that the "impoverished 3rd world people" is a very small sliver of immigration. It costs a lot to gain immigration (in fees to the government). It is generally the well educated who are able to immigrate.

It also seems that what he really suggests is exporting "lowering the birth rate" in 3rd world countries as the real solution for those "poor poor people."

I would counter with this article: http://kgcdirect.squarespace.com/
journal/2008/1/23/illegal-
immigrants.html In the comments there is a direct reference to this video: "As for Mr. Marbles on youtube, he is a quack with a secret motive.Listen carefully to his statement about two or three minutes in regarding reducing our Nation's fertility so we can eventually stabilize our population like the other advanced nations of the world. Would someone please tell me what advanced nations he is referring to? France? France has no French children. Why do you think Disneyland failed there? France stabilized their population and lost their country. The same is true across The European Union. You can include Russia, China and Japan for good measure. If you want to know what the world will be like in fifty years take a look at the cultures that are having lots of children."

Marie,

I am not against immigrants. My husbands' grandparents were from Poland.

I am against illegal immigration. One of my oldest and closest friends is a legal immigrant now citizen from England. My neighbors are legal from India. I'm all for immigration and this guy isn't against it. He is against rampant unchecked illegal immigration.

And, he may have an agenda with fertility. Don't they all. The fact is alot of Americans use birth control. It sucks but it's true.

I grew up in South Florida and was close friends with many Cubans. They are some of the fiercest opponents to illegal immigration. If people do it legally, I don't know why others who don't should get a pass.

Thanks for the info tho. I always love to learn.

Marie,

I also forgot to add (what a dummy I am) that the person who sent me this you tube link is the daughter of two legal immigrants turned citizens from Germany. And I can't believe I forgot to mention Mexican immigrants/citizens who are also homeschoolers from my parish who believe the laws of the land should be followed. So, I don't want to be misunderstood as some high and mighty white girl (not that you think that...just making it known). America is the land of immigrants. The USA just should not be the 'salvation nation' of the entire world and folks who want to come and live here should get in line with everyone else.

Oh, I agree that there is a difference between discussing legal and illegal immigration. But this guy was talking all about taking in the one million immigrants from third world nations, and unless I completely blanked it out, he didn't differentiate between legals and illegals. He just said the US needed to reduce levels of immigration to a reasonable level. Thinking about it, it seems like he was ONLY talking about legal immigration, because it's not like the gov't even has decent figures of how many illegals there are.

With all that said, I do think our economy would go berzerk if every illegal immigrant were back in his/her own land tomorrow. There's got to be some way to have a humane policy, be legal/come clean, and keep the economic benefit of people willing to do joe jobs.

I remember hearing that at a certain point (early 90s I think?) there were far more illegal Canadians than Mexicans, due to the terrible Canadian economy. But you never heard anyone complaining about them. It does make you kind of wonder.

Thanks for the exchange!
